Description
Norfolk House is an early to mid-19th century house in a row, located on the south side of North Road in Combe Down/Williamstowe. The house was originally likely two separate properties. It is constructed of limestone ashlar or dressed stone, with a concrete tile roof. The building has two sections, the right-hand half being ashlar and the left-hand half in dressed, roughly coursed stone. The main windows face south, overlooking the gardens.
The two-storey front elevation has a plain wall to the left, then a section with two plain sash windows above a four-panel door with a glazed hood. The rear elevation is ashlar and features a symmetrical arrangement of windows with two sashes above one sash and a door at each level. A gabled wing returns from the rear. The western end of the rear wall shows ashlar toothings, suggesting a planned but incomplete extension that now adjoins a throughway to No. 140A. The interior has not been inspected.
