Description

This is a milestone located on Marlborough Common, dating from the early 19th century. It is a stone monolith that has a triangular shape with a rounded top. One side is inscribed with "Wootton Bassett 11" and features a bench mark, while the opposite side is obscured by lichen. This milestone is associated with the Marlborough to Wootton Bassett Turnpike Act of 1809.
