Description

This milestone, located 60 meters south of the Manton House driveway, is a Grade II listed structure on the Marlborough to Wootton Bassett turnpike. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of stone. The milestone features a triangular shaft with a grooved top. The incised legend is somewhat obscured and has been overpainted, with the left side reading: "MARLBOR'O / 2 / MILE" and the right side reading: "WOOTON / BASSETT / 10".
