Description

This milestone is located on the north side of the carriageway near Spittleborough Farm, dating from after 1821. It is made of limestone and features a hexagonal top face that reads "BATH 29 Miles." The stem is in a half oval section and displays the following inscriptions: on the left, "TO SWINDON 4 miles"; on the right, "TO WOOTTON BASSETT 2 Miles" and "TO CHIPPENHAM 16 Miles." The foot of the milestone reads "TO OXFORD 34 Miles."
