Description
Lower Woodshaw Farm is a cottage dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed with a brick-faced stone exterior and has a hipped thatched roof featuring flush dormers. The original layout consists of three bays, a single storey with an attic, and a cross passage behind a central axial stack. A 19th-century service bay and a 20th-century extension have been added. The colourwashed brick facade now has 20th-century doors and timber-paned windows. An exposed timber frame is visible in the gable. Inside, there are chamfered beams with cut stops. A stone fireplace with an oven and a staircase are located behind the stack. Roof space reveals wattle and daub construction.
