Description

This milestone, located about 100 meters south-west of the drive to Swallett Farm, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is made of ashlar stone and features a flat-fronted base and top, with a curved-fronted stem. The base is inscribed with "To Oxford 43 miles." On the left side of the stem, it reads "To Wootton Bassett 7 miles" and "To Swindon 13 miles," while the right side states "To Chippenham 7 miles." The top face of the milestone is hexagonal and bears the inscription "To Bath 20 miles."
