Description

Midge Hall is an 18th-century farmhouse. It is constructed of rubble limestone with a more recent concrete tile roof. The main block was given a new facade during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The building has a 2-storey, 2-room deep plan, arranged in 3 bays, with a central stair hall. A 2-bay forward wing projects to the right, featuring a gable stack. A single-storey extension is attached to the left. Windows include 12-pane and 16-pane sashes from the 19th century, along with a bow window dating from around 1910. Fenestration was altered in the 19th century, with close spacing of windows on the sides and rear. Inside, there is an open-well staircase with turned balusters. A moat, which belonged to an earlier manor house, is located at the rear of the house. This was partially filled in due to motorway construction.
