Description
Nos 17 and 19 Pickwick are two houses built in the late 17th century and early 18th century, constructed from painted rubble stone with stone tiled roofs. No 17, dating from the late 17th century, is double fronted and has one and a half storeys with a west end chimney stack. It features two dormer gables, each with 2-light recessed ovolo-moulded windows that have hoodmoulds. On the ground floor, there is a similar 3-light window with a hoodmould to the left and a 2-light bead-moulded window from the 18th century with a hoodmould to the right. The central door is set in a chamfered surround. The rear of No 17 has a chimney gable to the left, which includes a 2-light recessed ovolo-moulded upper window with a hoodmould, and a rear wing to the right with a similar upper window in the north gable.
No 19, built in the early 18th century, is two and a half storeys with a one-room plan, featuring a coped west gable and an end chimney stack. It has a tall coped dormer gable and a two-light recessed cyma-moulded mullion window in both the attic and first floors, with a dripcourse above the first floor. The ground floor has a glazed door in a 19th-century bargeboarded porch. The west end includes an attic single light and a first-floor 2-light window, both with hoodmoulds, as well as a canted stone bay window from the 19th century on the ground floor.
