Description
Nos. 12 and 14 Pickwick are a pair of mid-18th century houses constructed from squared rubble with white lime joints, featuring a stone tiled roof and end wall stacks. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic, and each has two hipped dormers—one with 12 panes and the other with leaded lights. The main facade displays flush quoins, a coved eaves cornice, a moulded course above the ground floor, and a raised plinth.
On the upper floor, there are two pairs of 12-pane sash windows in moulded architraves at the centre, with an additional 12-pane sash window on each side. The ground floor features smaller windows, with a pair of 12-pane sashes on each side set in a flush cym-moulded surround. The central entrance consists of a pair of 6-panel doors within architraves, topped by a single hood supported by four brackets.
At the rear, each house has a parallel range; these are hipped at the inner ends and gabled with a stack at the outer end. No. 12 includes a hipped 20-pane dormer, two stepped 12-pane sash windows on the first floor in architraves, and a lean-to at the ground floor. No. 14 has two 12-pane first floor sashes in unmoulded surrounds.
