Description

Two attached houses, dating from the early to mid 18th century, are constructed of rubble stone with stone-tiled roofs, coped gables, and end wall stacks. Number 22 is a three-storey, three-window formal front. It has flush quoins, string courses above the ground and first floors, and flush cyma-moulded mullion windows; these are two-light, except for a three-light window on the ground floor to the right. A central six-panel door is set within a flush moulded surround and has a hood supported by brackets. A tall stone-tiled lean-to adjoins the west end, with an ashlar facing on the north wall, towards the road. Number 20, to the left, is a two-storey, three-window range with a string course over the ground floor and flush quoins at the north-east angle. It has two-light windows similar to those in Number 22. A central six-panel door has a hood supported by brackets. An extension is present on the east end, incorporating Bridgwater tiles and a coped gable. A low front boundary wall, constructed of rubble stone and coped with ramps at each end, runs in front of both houses. This wall is punctuated by pairs of ashlar piers, each topped with cross-gabled caps.
