Milestone. 1840. Cast-iron classical-style pillar with pedimented capping, lettering on front: WARMINSTER/TOWN HALL/4/MILES/ CHILMARK/6/MILES. One of a series of cast-iron milestones on roads radiating from Warminster, made by Carson and Miller, a firm of Warminster ironfounders, usually dated 1840 and initialled C & M/W on plinth, though not visible at time of survey, because partly sunk (July 1985).
