Description

The dovecote at Ashbys, dated 1810 on the gable datestone, is a square, two-storey structure built of Flemish bond brick with a tiled roof. It is raised on three brick tunnel vaults. The ground floor features a planked door with a segmental relieving arch, while the first floor has a 2-light leaded casement window with a relieving arch above it. The segmental arched gable includes seven stone arched pigeon holes and the datestone. Although the interior is not accessible, it is reported that the walls are lined with pigeon holes.
