Description

Church Farm House is a detached house dating from around 1800, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The front is limestone ashlar, while the returns are of banded brick and rubble stone. It has a tiled hipped roof and brick stacks. The building is in an 'L' shape with a two-span roof. The two-storey, three-windowed facade features sash windows, with a 20th-century door and transom light in the centre, flanked by late 19th-century tripartite sashes. The first floor has a 12-pane sash window above the door, and tripartite sash windows on either side. The left return has a large two-light casement and 12-pane sashes to the rear wing. A parallel rear range, dating from the 19th century, includes casements and a four-pane sash window. The interior features six-panelled doors with panelled reveals, a staircase with two stick balusters per tread and a wreathed handrail, moulded plaster cornices and marble fireplaces in the front rooms; the north fireplace has a reeded surround with paterae. Window shutters are also present.
