Description

5 to 10 Southgate comprise a group of late 18th and early 19th century cottages located on the southern approach to Devizes. The cottages are two storeys, constructed with red brick façades on a rendered plinth. They have gable-end pantile roofs. Each cottage has one window, featuring two-light 19th century casement windows with glazing bars. Nos 6 and 7 have modern casements on the first floor. The ground floor window frames have slightly cambered heads. The doors are of four flush panels, set within plain doorcases, and are sheltered by small hoods supported on shaped brackets. Stone steps lead to the entrances of Nos 7, 8, 9, and 10. Nos 9 to 15 form a connected group.
