Description
Willow Cottage is a mid-17th century cottage built with a timber frame on flint footings and features a thatched roof. It is a single-storey building with an attic, consisting of two bays and a lobby entry plan. The cottage has been extended at both ends, which were rebuilt in the 20th century. The framing consists of three panels high with corner braces. The central door is now enclosed in a thatched lean-to porch, and there are timber casement windows. The roof is hipped and extends over the rebuilt sections.
Inside, there is a chalk stone stack with a brick fireplace and a chamfered timber lintel. The roof structure includes tie beams that are braced to posts, raking struts, and collars that clasp chamfered purlins. The cottage was restored in 1967, and an extension was added at the rear of the right extension to connect to a garage.
