Description

Pitton Church of England Primary School is a parish school built in 1850 and altered in 1886. It is constructed of red brick with blue brick diapering and features a Welsh slate roof adorned with ornate bargeboards and pendants at the gable ends. The building has brick gable-end stacks with set-offs, one of which has a rendered shaft while the other is truncated.

The school has a rectangular plan consisting of two rooms: a smaller infants' classroom on the left and a larger schoolroom on the right, separated by large double doors. Each room has a doorway at the front, with the central doorway leading to the main schoolroom featuring a porch that was extended in 1886. The design reflects the Victorian Picturesque style.

The exterior is a single storey with a four-bay northeast front that includes three 12-pane sash windows with weathered brick cills. To the left of centre is a plain doorway with a plank door, while the central porch has side doorways and small wings. The front of the porch is highlighted by a three-light casement window with glazing bars and a gable with shaped bargeboards and a pendant. Below this is a stone shield dated 1850, inscribed with "Feed My Lambs." The gable ends each feature a central stack with weathered set-offs, flanked by narrow 8-pane sash windows with cambered brick arches. At the rear, there are 12-pane sashes on the left and right, along with a small 20th-century single-storey wing at the centre.

Inside, the two rooms are open to the scissor-braced truss roof, with a pendant at the apex of each truss. The smaller infants' classroom is now used as an office, while the larger schoolroom remains intact.
