Description
Appletree Cottage is a cottage that dates from the late medieval period and later. It is constructed with a timber frame and brick noggings, topped with a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and originally consisted of three bays, with a fourth bay added or rebuilt to the left. The framing features three panels high and has been significantly altered over time. The central bay contains a door that is accessed through a 20th-century porch. The cottage has various windows, including iron-paned casements on the upper floor and 20th-century leaded lights. Inside, the left side consists of three bays from a cruck building, with the third bay on the right being narrower. The apex takes the form of F2 with single chamfered purlins. The right end of the cottage was rebuilt in the 18th century and includes a gable stack. Additionally, there is a 20th-century extension to the front on the left.
