Description
Coldharbour Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 15th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of colourwashed brick with some flint banding and features a thatched roof. The building is single storey with an attic, raised to two storeys, and has three and a half bays with a major stack located in the half bay between the first and second bays. There is a boarded door in the left bay and 19th-century timber casement windows, with leaded windows on the upper floor and an ovolo window on the east side. The roof is hipped.
Inside, the southern two bays retain remains of full crucks, which have curved blades and a type E apex, originally infilled with wattle and daub. The inner bay shows smoke blackening in the roof, and the rafters are pegged to a diagonal ridge. A stack was inserted around 1700, leading to a reorganization of the interior. There is an oven against the front wall, spine beams with ogee stops, and some timber framed partitions.
