Description

The Cottage is a Grade II listed building located on Marshfield Road in Chippenham. It dates back to the early 18th century and is attached to the rear of No. 68. The structure is built of painted limestone rubble with freestone quoins and dressings, topped with a double-Roman tile roof featuring a central brick ridge stack. The cottage has a two-unit plan and includes a 20th-century rear extension.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a one-window range. It features cyma-moulded stone mullions for the two-light windows, which have 20th-century leaded glazing. The ground floor of the gabled left return has a three-light window. To the left of the entrance is a 20th-century planked door set within a cyma-moulded architrave, topped by a moulded hood supported on brackets.

The interior has not been inspected. Historically, before 1784, this building was part of the Horse and Jockey Inn.
