Description

A pair of houses, now offices, dating from the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar with a hipped slate roof, wide eaves, two small gabled dormers, and stacks to the rear. They have double-depth plans.

The exterior presents a symmetrical 4-window facade (each house being a 2-window range), with raised chamfered quoins. Windows to the sides have bracketed sills. The windows on the left-hand side of No.29 are late 19th-century plate-glass sashes, while those on the right are 20th-century replacements. The central windows have semicircular arches. Moulded architraves and bracketed sills are visible on the ground-floor windows, and the central set-back 6-panel doors, glazed to the top with fanlights (the fanlight on the left featuring radial glazing bars), are topped with raised archivolts. The interior has not been inspected.

Attached to the right of No.28 is a coped ashlar wall approximately 2 metres high and 3 metres long, featuring a segmental-arched opening. Lower walls enclose the front garden of No.28, punctuated by domed octagonal piers.
