Description
26A Park Lane is a schoolmaster's house that was built in 1857 as part of the former National School. The building is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble with freestone dressings and features a triple-Roman tile roof with coped gable ends and a truncated ashlar stack at the rear right. It is designed in the Gothic Revival style and has an L-shaped plan.
The exterior consists of two storeys and a symmetrical three-window arrangement on the gabled east facade facing St Paul Street. The Park Lane facade is also symmetrical and has three first-floor windows set in chamfered surrounds. A stone porch with a shallow pointed arch and a hipped offset roof is situated at the front, flanked by stone-mullioned two-light windows that have hoodmoulds with mask stops. On the right side of the building, there is a two-light window on the first floor with a shield plaque above it, which is dated "1857." The building has 20th-century windows and a door. The interior has not been inspected.
