Description

Verona Villas is a pair of houses built in the late 19th century, located on Marshfield Road in Chippenham. They are constructed from squared limestone rubble with freestone dressings on the facade, while the rest is made of English-bond brick. The houses feature hipped slate roofs and axial ashlar ridge stacks with plinths and cornices. Each house has a symmetrical design with two storeys and a two-window range. The first-floor plate-glass sash windows have moulded architraves that extend into the eaves cornices and continuous sills. The central paired doors, mostly with four panes, are set within stone Tuscan doorcases that have shared dentilled pediments, carved tympana, and urn finials. On either side of the doors are canted bays with cornices and blocking courses. The interior has not been inspected. The front gardens are enclosed by low rubblestone walls with chamfered capping, which are highlighted by large piers featuring dentilled cornices and pyramidal caps.
