Description
3 and 4 Castle Hill Terrace are a pair of mid-19th century villas located on the north side of Castle Hill Terrace. The buildings are two stories high and feature rendered and painted walls, with a hipped slate roof. They have wide cut bracketed eaves that include ovolo moulding underneath. The villas are symmetrical with six bays and a central chimney, and they have a flat band at the first floor level.
The windows are double hung sash types set in reveals, with segmental heads that are moulded and have moulded architraves. Shutters are present on both sides of the windows, with the left side featuring three bays and matching copies on the right. The stone bracketed cills add to the architectural detail.
On the ground floor, there is a delicate cast iron raised verandah with tailings and a concave canopy. The ground floor also features four French casements with fanlights above them, and four panelled doors with bolection moulded top panels that are glazed. These doors are approached by a short flight of stone steps.
