Description
Spring Lodge is a mid-19th century building located on the north side of Castle Hill. It is two stories tall with a hipped slate roof and flanking chimneys. The facade is symmetrical with four bays. Features include bracketed eaves, cast iron ogee gutters, and a decorative cut cast iron fascia. The first floor has double hung sash windows set in reveals with semi-circular heads, moulded arises, and stone cills. The front is stuccoed, lined out, and painted.
On the ground floor, there are four French casements with square fanlights and a concave canopy that spans the full width, supported by paired timber columns. To the left side, there is a square closed porch featuring Tuscan Doric pilasters, a cornice entablature, and a blocking course, with a semi-circular arched opening that has impost blocks and a decorated keystone. On the right side, there is a contemporary conservatory with four bays, featuring semi-circular arched headed glazed panels and French casements below, topped with a glazed small pane roof.
