Description
Old Rectory Cottage is a Grade II listed building, originally a stable and coach house, dated 1726 and altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone with some ironstone dressings, topped with an inter-locking tile roof and a stone ridge stack. The cottage features a three-unit plan and is one storey with an attic, comprising a six-bay range.
To the left of the center is a Tudor-arched moulded stone doorway with a rectangular wave-moulded surround and a hood mould. Above this doorway is a datestone inscribed with "TE7/1726" and a heraldic lion. There is a former coach house doorway to the left, which has been converted to a glazed opening, and a chamfered doorway to the far right with a round-arched head. The building also includes two and three-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows. A central gabled dormer features a similar two-light window and a ventilation slit above. The stone-coped gables are adorned with kneelers. The cottage is included for its group value.
