Description
Church Hill Cottage is a Grade II listed building located in Godshill. This cottage, originally two separate cottages, dates back to the early 18th century and features a two-bay structure that was extended by one bay in the late 18th century or early 19th century. The left side of the cottage is constructed from Isle of Wight stone rubble with red brick dressings, while the right side is made of painted brick in Flemish bond on a stone plinth. The cottage has a thatched roof and three brick chimneystacks, with one at each end of the original section and one in the center of the addition. It is one and a half stories tall and has three windows, including two 'eyebrow' dormers fitted with 20th-century casement windows and 20th-century triple casements on the ground floor. The left side features a 19th-century plank door with a wooden architrave, while the right side has a modern four-panelled door with the top two panels glazed and a wooden weatherhood supported by brackets.
