Description

Church Gate Cottage is an early 18th-century two-bay end-chimney stack house, located on Church Hill in Godshill. It is constructed from Isle of Wight stone rubble with ashlar quoins, and has a thatched roof. A 20th-century addition has been made to the left side. The cottage is one and a half storeys high, with two windows on the front elevation. It features two 20th-century dormer casement windows in eyebrow dormers. The ground floor has two 20th-century casement windows. A thatched porch with rustic columns and vertical boards is situated on the right side of the building. A plank door provides access. The left side features a 20th-century weatherboarded extension, and a canted bay modern extension to the rear is not considered to be of special interest.
