Description
Nos 10 and 11 on Church Street are 17th-century timber-framed buildings that stand two stories tall, with a long wing extending to the rear of No 11. The front of the buildings is rendered, and they have a double Roman tile roof that continues from No 9. No 10 features two two-light casements, while No 11 has one three-light casement. Both buildings have mid-19th century shop fronts, each with three panelled pilasters and two scrolled brackets supporting the fascia. The doors are located to the right. A chimney is set in the stone gable at the rear of No 10. The rear wing is in excellent condition, consisting of four bays that are heavily framed with braces to the studs and mainly brick infill. This wing also has two stories and an attic, which includes one raking top dormer on the northwest side. It features three two-light casements, one three-light casement, and four doorways, along with an off-ridge brick chimney. There is a single-storey rubble shed located to the northeast. Nos 2 to 7 and 9 to 12 form a group with the Emmanuel Baptist Church, including its gate and gatepiers.
