Description
No. 5 Church Street is a mid to late 19th-century, two-storey building with an ashlar front in a late classical style. The first floor features four windows, which are casements with moulded eaved architraves and aprons. Above the rusticated ground floor, there is a band, fluted side pilasters on the first floor, and a frieze, cornice, and blocking course beneath a double Roman tile roof that has a crested ridge and coped verges. On the ground floor, there is a round-headed window to the left and a wide modern recessed shop premises to the right. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 2 to 7 and 9 to 12, which collectively form a group with the Emmanuel Baptist Church, its gate, and gatepiers.
