Description

Milestone at Great Bedwyn turning, 18th century. This milestone is made of painted sarsen stone and features a triangular stem that returns to a square shape at the base. It has a rounded and weathered top. The inscriptions on the milestone read: on the left, "to Great Bedwin 3 Miles," and on the right, "To Savernake Hospital 2 Mile," with pointing hands indicating each destination. The base has an inscription that reads "To LONDON ( ) Miles."
