The Thatched Cottage And Adjoining Roadside Wall

The Thatched Cottage, dating from the 17th century, is located at right angles to the road on Winterbourne A338 in Winterbourne Dauntsey. The cottage is constructed of cob and rendered, topped with a thatched roof. It is a single storey with an attic and consists of three bays. The layout follows a lobby entry plan, featuring a gabled porch that serves the two bays closest to the road, which may have replaced an adjacent blocked door. The cottage has leaded timber windows, and the third bay is likely an addition. There are two flush dormers on each side and a brick stack, while the roof is half hipped. To the north, there is a garden wall made of cob on flint footings, which has thatched coping and measures approximately 20 meters in length.
