Description
This thatched cottage, located immediately to the north of Cordwainer's Cottage in Iddesleigh, has origins dating back to the 18th century and was significantly extended, likely in the 19th century. The cottage features rendered cob walls and a thatched roof, which is gabled at the left end and hipped at the front wing. There is a brick stack at the left gable end. The building has a two-storey design with an asymmetrical two-window front, where a wide wing projects from the right-hand end. The windows are mostly 20th-century two- and three-light casements, except for the right-hand window on the first floor, which is a 19th-century two-light small-paned casement. Below this window is a 20th-century stable-type door, which is sheltered by an open-fronted porch. Although the interior is inaccessible, it is known to contain an open fireplace with a cambered wooden lintel in the left-hand room.
