Description
Lower Court is a house that was originally a pair of cottages, dating from around the mid-17th century. It features plastered cob walls and a hipped thatch roof, with a central axial brick stack. The building is now a single house but was likely originally two cottages, each with a two-room plan, where the inner room was heated by the central stack and the outer room served as a small unheated service area.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with three windows, which are modern casements in small openings, including one-light, two-light, and three-light designs from the 20th century. There are two 19th-century plank doors located at the left and right ends of the façade. The rear elevation still has an original three-light wooden mullion window with a chamfered design. The interior was inaccessible during the survey, but it may have original features such as ceiling beams, fireplaces, and roof timbers.
