Description
Thatch End is a house that was formerly two cottages, dating from the mid to late 17th century. It features rendered cob walls and a gable-ended thatch roof, with two brick stacks at the gable ends. The building has been modified into a two-room plan house, although it originally consisted of two one-room plan cottages, each with its own heating. There are 19th-century outshuts added at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a regular four-window front, with 20th-century two-light casements, except for the first-floor window to the right of centre, which has small panes and is likely from the 19th century. There are also two 20th-century plank doors located to the left and right of centre. Inside, the right-hand room features a fireplace with a chamfered and step-stopped wooden lintel, and there is a similar fireplace in the left-hand room.
