Description

The gates and front wall to the Manor House in Winterbourne Dauntsey date from the early to mid-18th century. They are constructed of brick with stone coping on the piers and wall. The iron gates feature curved heads, decorative center panels, and dog rails, topped with a crested overthrow and cast metal finials. The gate piers are made of 585mm rubber bricks with lime putty joints, bead moulded arrises, necking, and stone cornices, although the finials on top are missing. The wall on either side stands approximately 1.4 meters high and has flush chamfered stone copings that sweep up to the return walls at the ends of the house elevation. The inner stops have moulded brick tops.
