Description
The barn east of The Grange is a structure dating from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, resting on flint sills, with a corrugated iron roof. The barn consists of ten bays, featuring midstreys in bays 2 and 7, and pitching doors at both ends. Inside, the barn has tie beam trusses supported by straight braces to jowled posts. The roof includes queen struts to collars and diminished principals with clasped purlins. The wall framing incorporates corner braces, some of which have been replaced with raking braces, and there is an original ventilator on the north side. The roof is quarter hipped at the ends, and much of the timber used in the construction has been reused.
