Description

Farnhurst is a detached house located on Amesbury Road in Shrewton. It dates from the early 18th century and features an early 19th-century front extension. The rear is constructed of cob and has a tiled roof, while the front is made of painted Flemish bond brick with a Welsh slate hipped roof and brick stacks. The building is L-shaped and has a symmetrical two-storey front with three windows. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a fanlight set in a round-arched opening, flanked by 12-pane tripartite sash windows with keystones. The first floor features a central 16-pane sash window with tripartite sashes on either side. The house has chamfered rusticated quoins and deep eaves under the hipped roof. The right side of the building is windowless, while the left side has a 20th-century two-light casement window on the ground floor. The rear range is the former cob cottage, which has 20th-century casement windows. The interior has not been inspected.
