Description

Brookside is a detached house built around 1800, with a rear extension added around 1840. The house is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a hipped roof made of Welsh slate, along with brick chimney stacks. It has an L-shaped plan, with the entrance front facing at right angles to the road.

The entrance front is two stories high and has two windows. The central door is half-glazed and topped with a 20th-century pediment, flanked by 16-pane sash windows with moulded architraves. On the first floor, there are two 2-light casements with cusped transom-lights. The right side of the house includes a 19th-century extension that has a glazed door and casements. The left side, which faces the road, features a 16-pane sash window on the right and a bay window from the 1940s on the left at ground level. The first floor on this side also has two 2-light casements with cusped transom-lights.

At the rear, there are two 20th-century casements on the ground floor and one 2-light casement on the first floor. Inside, the house has features such as fireplaces dating from around 1800 on the first floor and a staircase at the rear that dates from around 1840.
