Description

Shepherds Close Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick, with some limestone and flint, and features a thatched roof with a brick chimney. The cottage is single-storey with an attic and has one window. There is a half-glazed door set in a thatched porch, a three-light casement window to the right on the ground floor, and a small two-light casement window in an eyebrow dormer in the attic. The left side of the cottage has a two-light metal casement window on the ground floor and a three-light metal casement window in the attic. At the rear, there is a lean-to extension from the 19th century. Inside, the cottage includes a chamfered ceiling beam with convex stops, an open fireplace featuring a cambered chamfered bressumer with ogee stops, and winding stairs leading to a planked door on the south side of the fireplace.
