Description
The Brines is a semi-detached cottage dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed from plastered cob and brick, topped with a hipped thatched roof and features a brick axial stack. Originally a pair of cottages, it has been converted into one L-plan cottage. The building is two stories high and has a two-window front. There is a 20th-century door in a thatched porch; to the left, there is one 2-light casement window, and to the right, there are two 2-light casements, one of which has been inserted into a blocked doorway. The right side of the cottage is windowless. At the rear, there are two 2-light casements and French windows on the ground floor to the left, along with a 20th-century kitchen extension to the right. The first floor has two 2-light casements. Inside, the cottage features central back-to-back open fireplaces with chamfered lintels, as well as chamfered ceiling beams with ogee stops.
