Description

Maddington Manor is a detached house dating from the 18th century, with remodelling and a front extension added in the 1830s. The building is constructed of English bond brick and features a tiled hipped roof with brick stacks. It has an L-shaped plan and is two stories high, with a three-window front from the 1830s. The central door has six fielded panels and a fanlight set within a round-arched opening, and is flanked by a Tuscan porch supported by stone columns with a stone dentilled cornice. On either side of the door are late 19th-century French windows with flat arches. The first floor features three 9-pane sash windows with flat arches and a brick dentilled eaves cornice.

The right side of the building has French windows and one glazed door, with two 9-pane sashes on the first floor, a hipped dormer with a 2-light casement window in the roof, and dentilled eaves. The left side has French windows and a 16-pane tripartite sash window on the ground floor, while the rear range includes a planked door with a rectangular light above, topped with a lead canopy supported by wooden columns. To the right is a 16-pane sash window with the year 1833 incised above it, and the first floor has six 16-pane sashes and one 20th-century sash. The right return of the rear range has three 9-pane sashes on the ground floor and a lean-to on the left, while the first floor features a round-arched stair sash window and three 9-pane sashes, along with dentilled eaves. The rear has a lean-to with a tiled roof on the ground floor and no windows on the first floor.

Inside, the manor has late 18th-century stairs with turned balusters and shaped cheeks, moulded ceiling cornices, and classical marble fireplaces in the front range from the 1830s.
