Description

SHREWTON MADDINGTON STREET SU 04 SE 3/10006 Wall at SU 066438 to NW of Church of St Mary GV II Wall C17, extended late C18/early C19. Coursed and knapped flint, with limestone quoins, blocks and courses to approx. 15m of C17 wall to north. Approx. 85m of later wall attached to south, of coursed knapped flint with brick quoins. Brick and stone coping. Later wall includes reset tombstone dated 1707. The C17 wall is probably contemporary with the walls at Maddington farm (q.v.) and the rebuilding of the Church of St Mary
