Description
The wall located to the northwest of the Church of St Mary in Shrewton dates from the 17th century and was extended in the late 18th or early 19th century. The original section of the wall, approximately 15 meters long, is made of coursed and knapped flint with limestone quoins, blocks, and courses. Attached to the south is about 85 meters of later wall, also constructed of coursed knapped flint but featuring brick quoins. The coping of the wall is made from brick and stone. This later section includes a reset tombstone that is dated 1707. The 17th-century wall is likely contemporary with the walls at Maddington Farm and the rebuilding of the Church of St Mary.
