Description

The Harris Memorial is a chest tomb located about 10 metres south of the north gates to the churchyard of the Church of St Michael in Melksham. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a plinth and an oval fielded panel adorned with cherubs on both main sides, which are flanked by carved drapery. The corners have quarter balusters, and it has a grooved frieze topped with a cornice. The memorial commemorates Sarah Harris, who died in 1799.
