Description

The Harris memorial is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 23 metres north of the chancel of the Church of St. Michael in Melksham. It dates from the early 19th century but is designed in an 18th-century style. The tomb is made of limestone and features two square fielded panels on the south side, while the north side has one oval fielded panel adorned with carved drapery on the sides and quarter balusters at the corners. It includes a plinth, a grooved frieze, and a corniced top. The earliest date inscribed on the memorial is 1818.
