Description

57, 57A, and 59 Milford Street are late 18th-century buildings located on the north side of Milford Street. No 57 is a two-storey structure made of red brick with some grey headers and features an old tiled roof with tile-hung gable ends. It has two flush-framed sash windows on the first floor. The ground floor originally had two windows and a door, but one window has been converted into a secondary door with sidelights. The main entrance consists of six fielded panels, flanked by fluted strips and supported by carved console brackets beneath a moulded hood.

No 59 has an 18th-century front that belongs to an earlier 16th or 17th-century building. It is also two storeys tall with an attic, constructed with a timber frame and tile-hung using mathematical tiles, topped with an old tiled roof. The first floor features a canted bay window with sash lights and glazing bars on the upper sash, while the ground floor has a plain modern shop front.

Nos 55 to 61 (odd) and No 65 form a group with these buildings.
