Description

This is a 16th-century building, altered in the 18th century, located on Milford Street. It is a two-story structure with a double-gabled front, the left-hand gable being smaller and clad in tiles. The ground floor is brick, while the upper parts have an old tile roof. The left-hand gable features a three-light leaded casement window. The ground floor has two 18th-century sash windows. The right-hand gable also has a three-light leaded casement window. The ground floor also incorporates an early 19th-century shop front with a glazed door featuring a Gothic arched top and a rectangular glazing pattern to the left, and a wide projecting window with nine panes across and three high, set within a panelled apron. This shop front is partly obscured by a modern fascia. The Milford Street frontage towards Guilder Street is timber-framed with colourwashed brick infilling. This section includes one gabled dormer window with a two-light casement. There is a three-light leaded casement on the ground floor and a six-panel door in the right-hand corner. A former 18th-century warehouse, which stood to the rear, has been demolished. The building forms a group with numbers 55 to 61 (odd) and 65.
