Description
58 Milford Street is a late 18th-century building that stands three storeys high and features a red brick exterior, which is likely a recasing of a 16th or 17th-century timber frame. The building has bands between the storeys and an old tiled roof, and it formerly had a bracketed cornice and a brick parapet. The upper floors contain four windows with no glazing bars, framed with flush architraves and painted keystones. On the ground floor, there are two similar sash windows on the left side, along with a Victorian shop front that has heavy panelled pilasters, a two-light window, and a fascia supported by console brackets.
To the right, there is a late 18th or early 19th-century extension, also three storeys high and made of red brick. This extension features one window on each floor, with two-light casements on the first and second floors, the latter of which is leaded. The ground floor has a three-light casement and a doorway leading to a passage. The rear elevation is rendered and includes two half-nipped gables, with traces of timber framing visible in the passage. Inside, the building boasts a late 16th-century plaster ceiling and 17th-century oak panelling.
