Description

12 Edward Street is a late 18th century to early 19th century building that has been altered over time. It stands two storeys tall and is constructed of painted brick, with a lower single-storey extension on the right side. The building features a modern concrete tiled roof and has one brick chimney.

On the first floor, there are two late sash windows with moulded stone keys. The right side has a ground floor glazing bar sash window, which is connected by a narrow fascia to the rest of the shop front. The main shop front consists of three lights on either side of double doors. To the right is a house door that is half glazed and has an overlight, along with a Victorian foot scraper nearby.

There are remains of a pier strip that separates Nos 12 and 14, which includes a brick dentil band. Inside the gable end wall of No 12, there is a massive truss that originates from the former No 10. The single-storey extension to the west has a pantiled roof.

No 12 was once linked, if not the same house as No 14, and evidence of this connection can be seen in three 18th century gabled two-and-a-half storey extensions with mansard roofs and pigeon openings in the gables, two of which are located at the back of No 14 and one at the back of No 12.
