Description

Westbury House is a late 18th-century building that has been altered over time. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of brick, featuring 14-inch flat arches. The building has stone string courses at the first and second floor levels, a moulded brick plinth, and an eaves cornice. The roof is covered with slate. The gable ends have stone copings, and there is a flanking chimney on the left side, which has moulded stone capping and a modillion base; the right-hand chimney has been removed. The windows are glazing bar sash types, with a single central window flanked by three-light windows on the upper floors. Each three-light window consists of three panes with narrow sidelights. The ground floor windows have been altered in the 19th century to feature casement cross windows with patterned and coloured top lights.

There is a central stucco porch from the 19th century, which has an altered arched central half-glazed door surrounded by Doric pilasters, a cornice, and a blocking course. The fine railings that were previously noted have now been destroyed. The south return of the building has four windows on the first floor, with arched stone heads above plate glass sashes and stone bracketed balconettes. A later extension to the north is made of red brick with stone dressings, also three storeys tall with a slate roof, featuring three-light arch-headed windows on the first floor and four-light arch-headed windows on the second floor. The rear elevation has been altered and consists of brick with stone dressings and an astragal cornice, along with a projecting central porch that has a round-headed arch supported by short columns with floral caps.
