Description

The Hatchet Inn is a house, now operating as an inn, dating from the 18th century, located in Chute Lower Chute. The building is characterised by colourwashed flint facing and a thatched roof. It is a single-storey structure with attics, comprising four bays. The main entrance is situated to the rear of the main stack, leading into a living hall to the left and an inner room. Two bays are situated to the right. A 20th-century porch with a thatched roof provides shelter for the entrance door. Paned casement windows are present throughout. The interior features a fireplace with a timber lintel and brick jambs, along with spine beams and exposed joists. A partition originally dividing the inner room has been removed.
